United States Male & Female Average Life Expectancy Rates Combined
Americans are living longer as death rates decrease and the years progress. In 2011 the average death rate for an American combining both male and females was 78.7, and has risen to 78.85 in 2015. The life expectancy according to data collected by UNdata will continue to rise as the chart above shows. It is expected that the life expectancy will reach 82 by the year 2040. Women have it luckier than men; according to UNdata statistics, the average life expectancy for females in the United States is 81.2 and 76.4 years for males. The numbers are steadily rising due to the health of Americans improving.
Top Leading Causes of Death in the United States
This report above collected by the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, reflects the recent improvement in death rate reduction due to major illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, and strokes. With modern technological advancements in medical research and treatments available, many lives have been saved. In addition, the United States is a very developed society in which health hazards from environment do not occur on a majority population scale. In other parts of the world, the average life expectancy rate varies.

This data was collected by UNdata. On the above chart, Australia has the highest life expectancy, and Africa has the lowest. Africa is a very under developed continent in which there are numerous factors that could contribute to ones poor health. For example, lack of clean water, lack of medical assistance for disease, and having a poor economy that fails to provide jobs, all negatively impact the population of Africa as a whole. However, even though Africa is behind, all these continents have significantly improved their rates over the past decade (according to statistics on UNdata) and continue to progress.
